Looks good Chad. It is red. Did you order it specifically without paint or does the long mount not come with paint? Just curios as mine is the nice boring cream color.

I ordered it without any powdercoating. All the mounts come standard with the "cream" or "dove gray" color like all the steel parts in the kit. There's no savings from Van's doing it this way, but I wanted a touch of something different...who knew?

I've heard that painting over powdercoating doesn't work out in the end...it tends to chip easily. That's just what I've heard, I have no proof of that.

As we all know, powdercoating is so strong, and always looks great, that I just thought in the long run, this would be the better thing to do.

I *think* that painting over powdercoating has been discussed on here before... :? I seem to remember this coming up when Dave Rogers PC'd his slider frame...

Actually, I just think this is a hold-over from his days of wanting a Subaru conversion. Doesn't Jan paint his engine mounts red????

I was wondering how long it would take for that to come up! HA! 'Tis true, however...ever since I saw his red mounts, I knew mine would be red, regardless of the engine up front. BTW...his mounts are now white...

Thanks Jeff! 8)

Great minds think alike, Brad. Anyhew, I was over at Chad's tonight and they do look good. Got me thinking - what are some areas that can/should be powdercoated? Has anyone done high wear parts like the canopy/arm rails and arm rests or maybe the tip-up rollbar (not exactly high wear though) or F-705 cross bar? I don't recall seeing any RV's done that way.

Chad -
Looking great!! :good job:
With all the custom mods (landing/taxi lights, hot rudder pedals, powder coat engine mount, etc.) you're going to have a sweet ride!!
Keep up the great work!
