Firewall doubler question
When do I need to add a doubler when adding things to the firewall? For example, do I need a doubler when installing an ANL below the contactors?

Bob,
That is pretty much what I did. I used doublers unless I had something solid like an angle to help support it. How far along are you? I tried to mount everything I could before I hung the engine. I have had to make about four or five small holes in addition but I am
really glad I avoided making to many holes after the engine was hung.
I am hoping to be at the MN Wing meeting on 3/28/09 and will compare notes with you then.

I'm at that stage where I'm trying to balance avionics and firewall/engine work. Not quite ready to hang the engine, but that's more a function of the cold weather than anything else. i could easily do it next weekend, although I won't. I've got the battery, contactors, transducer manifold mounted on the firewall and am about ready to seal up the recess. I haven't drilled any of the holes through the firewall for wires or lines yet.Bob Barrett wrote:Bob,
