Taxi! Taxi!!!

Post by cjensen »

Made my first taxi today!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhmO8vCviEM

I had to run the engine for a little over 20 minutes to do the Lycoming Service Instruction 1427B, so while running it at 1000 rpm for 15 minutes, I made my first taxi.

All went great, had to ride the brakes, but they needed some break in anyway. Oil temps ran up to 196 at 1000 rpm for 15 minutes, then 212 during the 5 minute 1500 rpm run, then maxed at 223 during the 10 second full static rpm run. Within limits, and fully expected during that long of a ground run with some power in. The CHT's where all within 5-10 degrees of each other at all times...a tribute to the plenum!

The taxi back in...

We removed the cowl to check for leak, had a couple minor ones to check in to, but not a big deal. The exhaust has a neat color to it at this point!

Was an RV grin kinda day...

I'm thinking it probably sounds like a sweet symphony.
