Hmmm, Im not convinced its bad news. It sounds like a consolidation to alleviate them of resource draw. I didn't get the impression that they were dropping any capability or offerings, just changing where you would ship your core :) This might actually bolster their business financially.

The comment about pushing factory services was a bit telling. Being owned by Continental it seems that it would at some point become an internal conflict of interest from a revenue standpoint.

This could be interesting to watch.

I think it's bad news for us builders in the Northeast. Mattituck is an easy day's drive/ferry ride from Boston, and the prospect of being able to get a quality product with outstanding service in my own back yard (in RV terms) was the major factor in my plan to buy a Mattituck engine.

Mattituck

I wonder what will happen to all their records? It is pretty nice to call and have the company that built your engine pull the work order if you have a question. I called Mattituck a year or so ago with a question regarding an IO-520 they overhauled 20 years ago and they not only pulled the records but Mahlon helped me and he had signed the yellow tag 20 years prior. They were very helpful to me.

I would think (hope) that the records would transfer over to the other remaining facility.

Hope is nothing more than a wish without a plan!

Hope is what Obama voters had.

It is TERRIBLE that Mattituck is closing!

Mattituck is an icon in the industry! If you haven't visited the place, you really missed out.

I am very happy to be able to say that I have one of their engines.

Not good news at all!

'eh? :headscratch: Other than write something cute I'm not sure what you are trying to convey here CJ. I don't have any vested interested in their staying open or not. I was just suggesting that they might merely move their records.
