I'm planning on being there and bringing along Ken Wood, a potential RV builder.

At this point in time, we both will need a ride. I'm still attempting to talk some of the folks that are driving that they really need some prime rib and RV talk on Wednesday evening.

It's been a few years since I was there. That was the night I first met Chad and when I got a ride from him.

Otter 2016

Post by painless »

Saw that last year's thread regarding the Otter get together was revived, so I thought I would start a new one for this year.

So if you plan to attend the annual prime rib binge, post your intentions here. I will let the Otter know by Tuesday the week of the show how many of us to expect/prepare for. Not to worry, I won't name names so they don't refuse service to us.....

So far those attending include:

Bob Laffler
Bruce Hill
CJ
I'll assume our illustrious leader, Mike Bullock
Eric Severson
Me (aka Painless....official Riverbanger photographer)

Anyone that has ground transport available should chime in.
Chad Jenson. Chad Jenson. Paging Chad Jenson......

My mighty Suburban, the Queen of the Fleet, won't be available since I'm flying in this year. So pipe up if you can get some folks to the event.

Hope to see you there!

I moved the posts from the 2015 Otter thread to this one. I figure it's time for us to get our ducks in a row for the feast. So far, I have the following people interesting in attending:
  • Brantel + Wife
  • Painless
  • CJ
  • Me + Possible Guest
  • Bob Leffler + Ken Wood
  • Steve Briggs
  • Don Pansier
  • Bruce Hill
  • Eric Severson
That's 12 people. If anyone has a vehicle they can assist us with transporting people, please speak up. One option I have come up with is we can rent a car or two for the day, and use Uber to get the drivers back and forth between Oshkosh and the rental agency. This is not a cheap option, as rental cars are at a price premium for the week of Oshkosh. A 7 person minivan is renting for $170/day ($25 pp rt), and a 5 person mid-size car is $90/day ($18 pp rt).

Me and my son will both be there this year for sure. If needed we can both drive down to Oshkosh and pick people up. I can take 5-6 in our van and 4 in a second car. Let me know if anyone needs us to pick them up and rest assured you would not be putting us out.
And whoever is contacting the Black Otter, put us down for two 72ozers. Fed us for 3 days last time. LOL

Add Steve Brown, a RV-14 builder from DLZ, he will have a vehicle and three seats.

Out of curiosity, who is letting the Otter know that this heard of RV'ers will be descending on them expecting top notch prime rib?

My personal RB secretary (and also the chief RB Photographer) , Painless, has gotten in touch with The Black Otter. Here is some info:
  1. They do not take reservations, but we can reserve Prime Ribs ahead of time. Everyone pre-ordering a prime rib dinner will get their guaranteed cut and cooked the way they like it.
  2. In order to reserve the prime ribs ahead of time, they need a credit card (I have no issue using mine). However, we will be accountable to eat what we pre-order.
  3. In my 5+ times I have gone to the Otter, they have not run out. The only incident I encountered was when they accidentally overcooked their prime rib and the rarest they offered was medium-well :bang:
  4. If people want to go the pre-order route, let me know what you want BY 6/19 (Tuesday) and I will get things in order.
    1. Queen Cut 1 bone (approximately 32oz)...........................28.95
    2. King Cut 2 bones (approximately 72oz)..............................37.95
    3. Our Super Cut 3 bones (approximately 116+ oz.).......Market Price
Please indicate what cut you want, and how you want it done.
