Hey Doc

Post by Vlad »

Asking for a potential foreign student pilot. Is it possible to get a 3rd class medical having only 10% on one eye? The second eye is 100. Heard elsewhere on a professional pilot board there was a precedent a pilot flew with one eye. Would be glad to hear from a doctor is it possible and how to proceed. Thanks,

Vlad,

If your friend is willing to spend some $ for an email consult, these guys can be very helpful - https://www.aviationmedicine.com/servic ... ssistance/

I've used them before and they've always given me good advice.

Thanks Dave. He is already talking to an AME. It's surely possible for 3rd class. Need a monocular vision test. For 2nd and 1st one need a checkride with FAA.

I've got two friends (one living in the same airpark as me) who are one eyed pilots, so a 3rd class w/special issuance would be a no brainer.
