final equipment for the new Zizzo, a mirror. these are SS mirrors that don't break when you smack a tree. you will need to cut these back to have a good fit to the Ergon, but it is quick. set the mirror so it folds to the brake lever.

Wintertime is a good time to plan for the upcoming riding season. Besides local trips, I like to reach out to do some biking/camping. I have been to three of these before and they were very good. I added two new ones, Elroy-Sparta and Eau Claire WI. A nice thing about these trips is that they are relatively inexpensive because you don't need a car or a hotel. This year I will be packing my fishing pole!

but there is one thing that will drive me back to Door County WI. yeah, they have hot women, but they also have great candy that the black bear ate at my campsite one night. that pissed me off.

the "Trail Chow Candy" at Uncle Tom's Candy Store cannot be surpassed. made right there on the premises. I can't get it out of my head after 1/2 year. texture, flavor blending balance, quality ingredients, just right. I was blown away, right there in the parking lot. I thought, this is not possible. it's good that I didn't keep the candy in the tent because the bear would have killed me to get to it. ... and I lived to ride another day. keep all food away from the tent! bull black bears kill more people than grizzles. a lot more.

-6C this morning but warming to 6C where I was going. so, that's good enough for me for a bike ride. I used my "take with you" preheater this morning but could not get it to start after 3 attempts. then I noticed a kink in the fuel line. after straightening that, it started fine. that was 3 hours test running preheater on the aircraft battery and the engine started fine. a very nice day riding the bike and working the body. I was sweating at the end of the ride. rock on with some nice tunes...

I lost my red flash bike tail light last week, so I went back to try to find it by the log. nope, it wasn't there. then I rode 2 miles away and realized I didn't have my eye protection, so I rode back to look around. nope I couldn't find it until I looked under my helmet. I had smashed them on my head under my helmet. so, the message is, when you are older, you will spend a lot of time riding around looking for things you misplaced.... it's just like being in the hangar trying to find your coffee cup.... :)

here is a neat new e-bike that can pack in a suitcase and ride all day. however, I will not need an e-bike for another 15 years, but it is fun to look. I really like my cheap Zizzo pedal bikes.

Bike Friday All Day. hey, Bike Friday makes good bikes, and it looks like they went all in on this one. this one has a longer wheelbase and lower bottom bracket compared to my Zizzo's. Bike Friday bikes are made of steel.

all-day MBT's today.... some hard riding but the bike held up well. the old beater bike and I am trying to kill it but cannot. be sure to remove the bike from the airplane after the trip and open the bike bag to let everything dry. temperatures were perfect today. it doesn't get much better than today with some approving looks from the ladies. :)

the body will be tired after exercise like this. use the checklist to get you home safely. always use a checklist and treat it like you most precious possession.... oil looks OK, going to 100 hrs.

hot babes with crazy nice asses in Yellow Springs (I almost fell down), MBT's, UAVs, and a cat.....

I was number 4 upon landing and did some bike trails and had some nice food. Upon departure I was informed the tower was open and became aware of an unusual aircraft in front of me, talking as if the pilot was in the aircraft.

what if you could carry your bike on the raft you stowed on the bike. then down the river you go with a way to get back. load it all in the plane and fly away. a thought for another way to have some fun!

on the same trip you could: 1. fly, 2. ride, 3. raft, 4. hike, 5. eat some good food. that would be a fun day. the packraft would also be good for fishing trips.

I decided on the LW Alpacka Caribou raft for the folding bike to ride on the front. the lead time is about a month. I will need to find a way to carry it on the folding bike with all of the other camping gear. that's the real challenge, but there are no hard limits, only the imagination.

the main thing... if you roll the raft you don't want to get caught in lines that trap you under water. I have some far away rivers chosen but I will need to test it on local rivers firstly.

tuning the legs after the winter. I rode into town and then the next town over. it doesn't get much better than today. the tower was open, and drones were flying around, pretending to have pilots.

You may be hearing this more on the radio in the future.
In aviation, "UAS" stands for Unmanned Aircraft System, encompassing the entire system, including the aircraft (often called a drone or UAV), ground control station, data links, and other equipment needed for its operation.

sauerkraut with dill was spot on. the fries are like double wedges connected in the middle. I don't believe I have ever had any so good.

Zizzo review from a power user that owns almost every folding bike on the market. a rough around the edges guy but is the real deal. getting it done every day. these are the type of guys you want to listen to and then make your own decisions. agree with him about the brake pads. I need upgrade mine across all my Zizzo bikes. I have not had any issues breaking rear wheel spokes like he has.

one nice thing about the stock Zizzo rear rack is that it will fit in an RV airplane without needing to be removed and allows for more camping gear to be stacked while riding. however, you will need to have some panier brackets printed to restrain them aft to avoid heal strike.

its official.. My new favorite folding bike is…

That’s awesome to hear! It sounds like you made a great choice with the bike. Amazon’s fast delivery is always impressive—4 hours is crazy! I can totally relate to that feeling of excitement, like you’re a kid again with a new bike. It’s great that the bike rides well too; when something works even better than expected, it’s a real win.

The idea of it being a 4x range extender compared to walking is pretty motivating! It’s awesome how much more you can cover with the same amount of energy. Hope you get a chance to test it out fully soon, and I’m sure it’ll be a great addition to your routine. Enjoy the ride!

tuning the spokes on the beater bike, Zizzo Liberte. you can learn a lot from a beater bike because it's the one that gets the most abuse. I noticed the rear wheel rim was not rotating in alignment, measured at the brake pads. upon checking the spokes, I found a couple that needed to be tightened. by adjusting the spokes, the wheel is now rotating aligned. spokes are simply long bolts that only operate in tension. if you allow the preload to become reduced, just like any bolt, the stress is then allowed to cycle, and the spoke will fail. this is the bike I use on mountain bike trails, banging into rocks and tree roots while using 110 psi tire pressure. these are the original tires at a couple thousand miles and are beginning to show signs of distress.

a new taillight that senses motion for on/off and when braking. if you purchase this model you will need to cut the rubber so that it will fit the large Zizzo diameter seat post.

flew to Springfield Airport, rode the bike into town and had a coffee and yogurt at Un Mundo Cafe. then visited the Springfield Heritage Museaum, holy cow that was nice. then rode over to Salato deli and had a soup and sandwich and dropped in on the bread making class. stopped by Winans to have a espresso and chocolate and then went to the art museum. the art museum had some new nice displays. then I rode over to the next town, Yellow Springs and visited Glen Helen Park and hiked to the raptor rescue. then went into town and had a coffee and Danish. fueled with cheaper fuel and called it "a very nice day". the high temp in Springfield was 8C with some wind, that's about the best temp for being out and about.

from the above trip.... Springfield Heritage Museum. I was blown away by the exhibits. some selected snapshots. I learned about the "National Road". I didn't know about that. It went thru Springfield. In the late 1800's, Springfield was the place to be!

hey, the dogs and cats in Springfield seemed happy and did not appear to be afraid of being eaten. :)

a nice mystery location with an amazing wrap of turkey, cranberry sauce, dressing, and sweet gravy sauce. then I rode 16 miles for a world-famous dessert of sweet cream and fruit cheese Danish, but not really Danish and better. I purchased two of them, like a pig. it doesn't get much better than today on the Zizzo speedster! I have found that posting a photo of some food such as a hamburger or biscuits and gravy (especially biscuits and gravy) makes some people crazy, so from now on I will blur those photos to be sensitive to those that struggle with eating too much. sometimes it is better if things are a mystery or totally unknown.

after some 3D printing, I decided to get out to my favorite restaurant. -2C this AM but rising to 8C where I was going. those are perfect temperatures for bike riding for me. the classic burger there is the best I have ever had in 65 years... and I took an hour to think about it. wagyu beef (with a little pink but almost unseen), fresh local buns, slightly bitter lettuce, big tomato slice, cheddar cheese, homemade pickles, onions, mayo and old fashion mustard. It checks all the boxes. then I stumbled over to the deli for a fresh dessert and met Deborah, fresh from Colorado. I only rode 25 miles (barely worth it), but I saw a snow squirrel (rare) and turkeys that were wary of being seen. I made it back in with only a few drops of rain on the plane. photos of food are mostly screened in order to be sensitive to those that struggle with eating too much. it was a nice couple of hours. my weight has dropped into the 170's (6 ft) because I only eat between 12 and 6... a 6-hour window, but I can eat anything I want during that time. stay healthy, eat less.

this was the first time to take the new Zizzo Liberte out and about. I have ridden each one of the four Zizzo's I have in the past month on plane-bike packing trips. I use them. If I am flying, there is most likely a bike in the back.

I go through a bike bag in about a year. I like the thin material bike bags as they pack better. I noticed the new Rhino bag (same make) uses a different internal material. perhaps it will last longer.
