wrapping this one up. a rugged between the legs folding cup holder for the spar forward cover. it can support a 32 lb coffee cup and bounce right back if screw mounted. if 3M Dual Lock mounted it will support a 24 lb coffee cup before the dual lock fails. you can even kick it. when you have fat old guys climbing in small planes, it needs to be rugged around the feet. very nice but will be expensive for a cup holder. what's the point in doing something well if it is too expensive for most people? well, I'll tell you, it is the simple fact that it can be done. perhaps someone in the future will make one that is less expensive. moving on to something else....

folding cup holder .... testing. the cup holder was folded when I boarded the aircraft, and I did not notice it and had even forgotten about it. so boarding is not a factor for me with the cup holder folded. the white bottle is taller, and I noticed it slightly on the bottom of my right leg but it was not a factor. I did not notice the green water bottle at my leg because it is slightly shorter. both bottles and the cup were within easy reach. folding and unfolding is easily done when flying. upon aircraft departure I forgot to fold it and bumped it with the heel of my shoe. that was not a problem because it was designed for that event, it is very rugged. overall, I was very happy with it.

another goal was to soften three weeks of bugs and put the aircraft down for condition inspection. 105 hours on this oil but I found some "stuff" in the oil suction screen. I will cut the filter tomorrow after it drains.

these parts have been installed for 7 years. white ABS material which is subject to UV rays. I decided to paint the wing tie down fairings white.

Printing another batch of these... The key to successful ASA printing is to print slowly, use a high nozzle temperature, and ensure a heated chamber. I typically make runs of a dozen.

Oil fill door tube support, interior mount.....

I use this little tube frequently, but the Velcro I rely on to secure it in the cabin is wearing out, so I needed a better storage solution. A simple string might suffice, but I prefer something more secure. I came up with a prototype cabin mount for this little tube—a small thing, but it gets a lot of use.

I printed some of these today. Recently, a few people have purchased the angled version for smoother wire flow, but I haven't seen any photos of them installed yet. If you have a photo of them installed, please send it my way. Turn up the heat as these are capable.

seat belt support.... It's really convenient not having to search for your seat belts and just being able to grab them. It starts the flight off smoothly, without the hassle of pulling a seat belt from an awkward spot. I put a lot of effort into designing these to print without needing build support. They're strong and very lightweight. A couple of weeks ago, while loading a bike, I accidentally stepped on a seat belt, causing the support to pop off. I just pressed it back on—no damage done to the aircraft aluminum skin. Otherwise, they've stayed securely attached. You really can't beat that.

Mini spark plug wire baffle seals, 8.5mm. It’s impressive how popular these have become! That’s quite a bit of wire packed into a compact space. I’ll need to print more since my entire stock has sold out. The Bearhawk guys seem to like these for some reason. Turn up the heat as these are capable.

Kansas Mechanized Nose Wheel Chock.... I developed this nose wheel chock in the Summer of 2021 year and have been using it ever since and it has far exceeded my expectations. I use it on every flight to destinations. This nice thing about this wheel chock is that it locks to the nose wheel and rotates with the wheel if it moves. Quick to install and release. Trust me, this is the future for castoring nose wheel chocks for light aircraft.

Kansas Chocks, Mechanized Wheel Chocks

These wheel chocks can be used as regular chocks or latched for extra security. They’re lightweight but, when latched, won’t blow away in the wind. The base features a couple of soft layers for excellent grip.

Before first use, adjust the rope knots to fit the tire so there’s slight tension when latched. Extra rope is provided—trim to your preferred length. No further adjustments are needed. To unlatch, pull the rope grasp straight up. Multi-color rope grasps help identify chock positions: gray for nose, red for left, green for right. The latch mechanism is oriented outward on the mains for easy access. The nose wheel chock is unique, rotating with the nose wheel—handy in light to medium winds, as it can secure the aircraft alone without adding main wheel chocks. Tested for weeks in Kansas under extreme wind conditions, it delivered perfect results.
