Maine flying info request

Post by poeboy »

All you NorthEasters - the wife (PoeGal?) and I are heading there later this month for vacation and I hope to find a place to rent a plane and do some coastal sightseeing. We're flying (commercial) into Portland ME and working our way up the coast (love those cheap FlyI deals!). Any suggestions for plane rentals (172), interesting airports to visit, scenic sights, etc? It also looks like we're right on the border between charts, right? I've ordered NY, Halifax and Montreal. Any info is appreciated, thanks!

Poeboy,

Try Biddeford, ME (B19) for plane rental, it's 13 nm south of Portland.

If you're into vintage airplanes and cars, try a stop at the Owl's Head Transportation Museum (http://www.ohtm.org) at the Knox County / Rockland, ME airport (KRKD). If you're staying north of Portland, RKD might be another good place for airplane rentals.

Not too much further up the coast is Bar Harbor (KBHB). I've never been there, but it's supposed to be pretty scenic.

Cheers,

Thermos

Thanks, Thermos. Looking forward to seeing the coastline and
getting some of that Maine 'lobstah'.
