Sorry I missed that steak!!!`

Post by jimrobinette »

CJ, Thermos, WS and Spike,

Sorry I missed dinner with you guys. Was going to call but my phone went dead and normally that wouldn't have been a problem, except it is the only place I have your phone numbers!

Sounds and looks like you guys had a great time and a great slab of cow flesh! Maybe next time. For CJ, Thermos and WS, I will see you at the wiring seminar.

For those that wern't there, OSH got hit with a typical midwest thunderstorm Monday night about 2100. We were airing up our air mattress when it hit. Shannon jumped in the tent and I jumped in the car. About ten minutes later, I turned on the lights to see the tent poles had snapped and ripped the rain fly apart, while the tent collapsed. Pulled Shannon out and we managed to find a hotel room about 50 minutes away.

We got a new tent on Tuesday and had great weather the rest of the week. Tuesday was actually cold and windy (we had nothing but shorts and t-shirts) after Sunday being in the upper 90's!

Just returned and the drive back to RI was great except for the miserable state of IL! From now on I will avoid northeastern IL at all costs while driving. First of all the state nickle and dimes you on tolls, and then there are massive backups every 20 miles because you have to stop and pay another $.80 toll. They should make it like OH where you take a ticket when you get on and pay one price when you exit. OH was almost $9.00 to cross, but I only paid once, rather than the 10 times in IL. :bang: NYC is easier to travel through!

Overall it was a good time. CJ ordered his fuse and I saw many a beautiful RV's and friendly builders. Even ran into Aaron from Hartford, CT (had the blue and yellow RV-8 at the Boston fly-in last month).

Hope everyone had a good time.

Take care,

Jim

I know how you feel Jim! I am from IL, and I avoid Chicago tolls at all costs. They are HORRIBLE. I drove to OSH three weeks ago to pick up an engine that I bought, and went through Chicago (only because I had to drop my wife off for a wedding up there), and it took me SIX hours to get to OSH. I went through Madison on the way home, and made it back in four hours.

Moral--avoid Chicago. The mayor is a mad man too...

Well I have to check in as among the dining lost. My watch was still on Pacific time and I kept thinking "I have time." Well, I didn't. My buddy Rob finally asked me, "Aren't we going to that dinner thing?"

Doh! :bang:

Oh well, maybe next time. We finally drove to Appleton and cooked our steaks around 8pm central time.

Oh yeah, and I lost the paper I wrote Spike's number on. Double doh!

Just par for my course.

I was wondering what happened to you guys. We were a bit worried truthfully. Glad to see that things worked out for you guys though.

Scott,

So sorry we missed you. Is this plane yours? When I took the pic, I was wondering.

I wish! No, mine was down near the end of one of the rows. I still have naked fiberglass. I did spot someone with a RB T shirt but I couldn't catch him in the crowd. Standard white guy. Couldn't really describe him.

Here, this was my plane (and me.)

For those of you that missed Osh or want to check out some of the stuff you saw I just updated the resources pages with another 25 vendors or so and a few additional builder's sites. There was definately some neat stuff at the show this year.

By the way if you have a builder's site and its not listed let me know and I will add it.
