House renting for OSH.

Post by Wicked Stick »

Ok, so Sun-N-Fun is officially over, and since my job prevented me for attending, I'm starting to plan for OSH 06. :welcome:

I thought perhaps we could see how many rivetbangers are going to OSH this year and if anyone would be interested in sharing a house for the week. If we could get enough people, I would be willing to set it up.

This is a brand new house within 15 minutes drive of OSH. It's 3,500 square feet with another 500 sq ft bonus room. Currently four rooms are being used as bedrooms, along with an office and the bonus room which would be furnished with beds as needed. So six separate sleeping rooms could be available. There are three full bathrooms.

Some of our amenities are waterfront, three car attached garage with openers, central air conditioning (three zones that can be controlled separately), covered rear deck, rear balcony, sound system, security system, washer, dryer and charcoal grill.

Sounds like all we need are a bunch of rivetbangers and some beer and steaks !!!

Please let me know how many of you are interested, and I can see about working a deal for the week.

My friends and I rented a house last year at OSH and it was a really good experience. Sounds like a lot of fun, too bad I'll miss it this year. Have fun!

I'm In!!!

Post by N200PF »

We never miss it seeing that we're in Minnesota and Beth has family that live about 40 minutes from OSH. ANYTHING to shorten that morning drive and get us out of the in-laws hair would be appreciated by both sides!

...and what a blast to get to hang out with everyone for the week!!!

Any idea on costs?!?

I'm about 60% confident I'll be going... haven't decided whether
or not to fly in and camp or go commercial. Depending on costs
I'd be interested.

Patti and I are starting to talk more about Osh. Any more details on cost, etc? We *may* be able to partake of this.

Spike,

Did you get the pictures I sent you ??? of the house that's for rent ? If so, can you post some of them please for me.

The asking price was $5,000 for the week, but I have already talked him down to $4,250, and I'm sure I can get him down to $4,000.

If we get 10 people to stay, that would be $400 each.

What would be the most everyone is willing to pay for a weeks stay in an airconditioned home with hot showers and laundry, and a fridge, etc. ??

Unfortunately I didn't get those pictures. I imagine that I accidentally threw the baby out with the bath water. Can you send them again? Thanx!

:o :o :o cough, cough! i guess $400 each for the week isn't too bad, but when you look at it at $4-5000 for the week as a whole!!!! WOW!!

i may not be able to do this as i just found out that i won't be able to stay the whole week. it looks like i'm gonna be in florida the week before, and we are picking up our new pup (another golden) either thursday or friday that week. i'll be at the show mon-wed, i think...

Dave:

I am interested, but not for the whole week. I love airplanes, but even so I can't spend a week looking at them

If you need people for less than a week, let me know.

By the way, how are you flying out there? Commercially?

Hmmm, the brain is ticking over some more -- I have to pick my QB fuse up from Van's this summer. Maybe I should ask them if it would be possible to pick it up at Oshkosh. If not, maybe I should just stop at Oshkosh on the way back from OR. Anyway, I'm just rambling.

Dave:

I made some calls and it looks like I am going to pick my QB fuse up at Oshkosh.

I am definitely interested in spending two or three days, so please let me know if you want "transients" in on your deal.

For the others, I will be bringing my fuse back from Osh to the east coast. If anyone wants me to transport something for them, let me know.

By the way, what is the best airport to fly into if I fly commercially?

Antony

Antony - MSN is close as well...

Dave - Beth and I are intersted but have the same issue the others do. We're not staying for the entire week. We are planning 3 days at the show. ...any more than that and the "non-pilots" on our team start to get antsy.

I understand your contact wanting to rent the entire house for the entire week but would he/she consider going by the room with a 2 or 3 night minimum? If so, they'll certaily get a good number of us to book with them rather than the hotels or tents... just a thought.

Guys,

I too, do NOT plan to stay the entire week. But since we all may be leaving and staying on different days of the week, it may make sense to at least rent it from Sunday the 23rd to Thursday the 27th.

I agree with all, that it's a bit too pricey for the week.
I'll see if we can get him down to $3,000 and if we can get 10 squatters then I feel good about $300 a person for 3 to 4 days worth.

Spike, I'll resend the pictures for you tonight.
