Rivet bangin' anniversary!

Post by cjensen »

My one year anniversary has come and gone since starting the project. I started the emp one year ago yesterday (5th).

Some quick stats from my first year:
350.5 hours worked.
I've worked 190 days out of the 365 offered to me for 52% days worked.
That averages to just under 1 hour of work per day at .96 hours/day.
Per week it's 6.74 hours average.
Per month it's 29.2 hours average. My goal was to average 30 hours/month, so I'm not far off...
I've set 4,184 rivets, drilled out 132 of those for 96.8% accuracy. Not bad, but could be better.
8) 8) 8)
THIS IS FUN!!!

Chad,

Nice stats, but just imagine how much further along you'd be if you spent the time building instead of counting how many rivets you've driven and drilled.

In the end, I don't care how many rivets I've bucked or squeezed, just how much fun I'm gonna have flying it all over the U.S.

   Yeah, but somebody has to count 'em! Actually, with my laid back personality, I'm suprised myself that I take the time to count 'em.

I bet he gives up on counting the rivets before the wings are done!

Chad, I was reading your post about counting rivets and it reminded me of how many rivets are in a GIV. Care to take a guess? Here is a picture of the underside of the right wing. Whenever I get a little discouraged on the RV-7, I just take a walk through the hanger here at work. It could be a lot worse!

Well, I'd like to see that pic, but I'd guess there's more than there are in the RV-7? I would guess somewhere along the lines of a half a million rivets... :dunno:

It looks like there is a space between jpg and [/img]. Try taking the space out?

Thanks Chad! The space was probably the problem.

Frankly, I don't know how many rivets are in this aircraft - but I know it is a s***load!
