Anyone know what type of airplane this is?
No cheating and googling the N number!

I saw it on the ramp this PM after flying ... thought it was a 150 with a Mooney tail!

Here is a description of the make / model / history.

That is an Aerocommander Darter. Guy in the hangar next to me just got one flying again. Not as good an example as this one tho.

One tough airplane I might add.

I say it's an Aerocommander LARK. I did not look it up, but that is my guess if it's not a Darter...

I have heard about the French made "Cessnas".

Is that what Aerocommander is?

I vote with Chad, it's a Lark. I recall looking it up after seeing one at the local airport in California.

CJ, the French company that license-built Cessnas is called Reims.

It would depend on what year it was, and what engine it has. The Darter and Lark look similar, but the Lark had a 360 Lyc in it, I believe, and a few improvement on looks (If possible).

I think they were built by Rockwell just like the Commander 112/114's were.

On the Reims thing, we had a Reims 406 Caravan II in here the other day. Pretty cool! I got a pic of it if anyone cares to see it. Looks like a Conquest I, but longer and bigger square windows.

It is cool. I initially thought it was experimental with the "X" tail number. I thought maybe someone took a 150 and somehow attached a mooney tail to it!
From the specs on Wikipedia it sounds like a neat bird - efficient with the O-320, but still pretty decent speed (for a spam can).
