Well, last night was the first time in weeks that I put cutting edge to metal. I notched my longs and set them in place!

I was looking the project over for weeks, planning things in my mind's eye and finally arrived at the decision that something needed to be done in order to proceed!

I made a list of things to do (in my own language, not Van's) and just did it!

I feel like I got something done and have a means to proceed.

There are certain points in the project where it seems that you need to pause and review a plan of attack. That is what I did last night.

Just do it!

EXCELLENT!!
I remember feeling the same way at "critical points" such as countersinking the spar or cutting the leading edge for landing lights.
But as you said... read the directions, think it through, look at some posts, and just do it!!

I hadn't thought about writing the steps in my own words... but it makes sense to see if you really understand what's required.

BTW - if available, a few pics would help those of us that are lagging behind.

I am deburring and dimpling wing ribs and skins! Yay.

I broke the blade in my burraway, so I'm doing it old school!

I need my friggin' garage back with all this snow. My temporary garage collapsed on my car last night. I see one scratch so far that willl buff out, but the other two areas the thing ended up resting on are covered by snow.

Be glad it was the car and not the plane... At least the car is insured in the garage collapse.. the plane would not have been and it would probably would have been worse damage.

Lorin, I took a few new pics last night, but here is the one of Antony (Wilson) peering over the top of the fuse.

I devised a nice wooden longeron bending tool the other night while talking to Paul Trotter. I will upload those pics and a few more later today.

Antony, Sorry to hear about your temporary garage. That snow was SUM HEAVY! We didn't get ANY down here, but when it WAS snowing, MAN was it LOUSY!

Thanks guys. You're right about the car v. the plane Dave. I would definitely not have opted to build my plane in a temporary shelter.

Looks like the car got scratched and will need paint. Damn!

Bummer on the car Antony. I just picked my truck up from the body shop. A deer ran into me. The truck and I won but the deer did about $4800 damage to the truck. My body shop does great work and makes them look just like new again. Definately better than airplane damage! At least spring is almost here!

I whipped up this nice little tool for twisting the forward portion of the longs the required 17 degrees (or so)!

Note the two by on the flat atop of the longs!
