New Tool Box

Post by TomNativeNewYorker »

I have been needing much more room for tools that my craftsman box set at work just wont accommodate. I think I have more tools stashed in lockers and file cabinets at work than in my tool box (violates tool control policy if they are used).

I had saved a proto toolbox on my Grainger shopping list for the longest time, and decided to order it only to find out the one I had been eyeballing for the longest time has been discontinued.

I was prompted to call my local Grainger and found out they have one in Jacksonville FL they will ship to my local Grainger outlet for me. Final price for me at my cost is $994, compared to the latest equivalent at over $1600.

I fly back from my trip in El Salvador on the 11th so I guess that will be my new toy to deal with when I come back.

Hard part of it all though is putting tool foam in all the drawers, and cutting out individual openings for each tool in the box.

Ya know, I did the foam thing and a friend called me anal compulsive. Maybe some of us on this forum share that trait.

I am not reall anally compulsive, but the tool control instruction where I works requires the foam and individual slots for each tool. It makes it easy to do a complete sight inventory at the beginning and end of every shift to make sure no tools are missing and possibly left in one of the aircraft. I dont have a problem with it but a pain in the ass to get it all set up.

That's a sweet roller. I would have to get all new tools to go in that one, mine would just look too out of place. What are you doing in Nicaragua (spl?)

I am in El Salvador(not Nic.) providing maintenance and support on navy planes. We travel four times a year six to eight weeks at a time out of the country.

I have plenty of tools to fill the box, and even have a side cabinet I have been eyeballing as well if the box gets filled and need more room.
