Them's the BRAKES! (& rudder too!) Progress pic!

Well, it has been too long since I have shown any real, VISIBLE progress on the project.

I figured I would get something done this weekend, so I did the brakes and rudder pedals!

I am going to leave them brushed. No fancy paint or polishing. I DO plan on using stainless braided hose on the lines though!

I am more of a function over fashion kinda guy anyways.

Whatcha think?

Looking good! I did this just a few weeks ago. For me, it was rewarding to actually get something assembled and out of the way in the midst of the fuse being upside down and a bazillion things needing to be done before the flip!

Pedals look great in au natural. I get free powder coating, so mine are going to get splashed soon. Color yet to be decided, but I am leaning towards getting them with a mirror/silver finish.

I have been doing SO MUCH on the hangar, it has been robbing time from the plane!

I am kinda bummed, but it has been a good break in a way.

Once the furnace gets in there and Bill H. moves his plane in, I will have more time to spend on the project. But then again, I will be back in school teaching all the little MAGGOTS!

Oh, woe is me... Such is the life of an educator.

Those look great CJ. I may leave my pedals as they are also.

You know it is hard to show to much sympathy for someone who just had the summer off.

Lookin' good. Glad to hear you are working on the RV not the hangar for once.

Just wondering.....Why the stainless hoses? I assume you are using them on the pressure side, replacing what Van's supplied?

Just had a thought.....Put the Maggots to work smoothing off aluminum parts or something. 15 minutes of electrical instruction followed by 45 minutes of sheet metal basics every hour. Sounds like a great lesson plan to me!

Well Jeff, with the heavy boots and all down there... I am concerned with the fragility of the plastic tubing in that somewhat harsh environment.

The pre-made hoses from Pegasus are cheap and very durable.

Man, I ALMOST left mine brushed as well. After I worked 'em over on the wheel, they were BEAUTIFUL! Red paint just pulls me in!

I plan to use braided stainless brake lines as well CJ.

tried to call you the other night but i guess you were busy busy.

The pedals look good, big ups. Good work on going with braided lines too, it'll make the whole affair look that much more airplaney. Plus, when your kicking around with all the cool kids you can brag about it.
"yeah man, i got the chrome plated kanooter valve, the braided brake hoses, the edelbrock proformer manifold, phase four engine management with the piggyback over-ride, chrome rotator splint, mandrel bent doohickeys..."

Know how you feel getting back to work, the trip to the US / Canada pretty well cleaned me out of beer vouchers, so i gotta pick up another contract. Have had almost 2 months off though...
