Question to the group how far can the HS be skewed forward on one side. After all the measuring and double checking i managed to screw it up. It is skewed forward on one side about 3/8 of an inch. And yes it is all bolted in place hs and vs.

I would have to say this is a question above our level of expertise (well, for me anyway). Give a call or email to Van's on this one. I don't suggest this to imply you have a problem, just that I don't have a clue what the answer is. :)

I just drilled my HS this past weekend and am unsure how to answer as well. I am also unsure how you could have done this as my HS was dead-on with the rear spar resting tight against the upright bars.

Was the HS out of alignment before you drilled? Did it shift during drilling?

Are you measuring at the tips? 3/8" over 10 ft isn't too bad. I would imagine you are ok as long as the holes and linkages are all true.

Thanks for the response i have no idea as to where the 3/8 is coming in it could be from the central point im measuring from.

The first thing I would do is relocate the center point you are measuring to. Just to see if that is off.

FYI, I managed to do this with my RV-4's tailwheel. It is off centerline by about 1/4 inch. I freaked out and called Van's and they said just fly it. I did and still am. Doesn't make a bit of difference in ground handling.

Do you mean that one tip is leading the other by 3/8"?
