RV Community Amazes me!

Post by bullojm1 »

I have been waiting for the release of the ACK 406 Mhz ELT for quite some time now (I don't want to count how many times its release has been delayed). Now that I am getting closer to getting my RV ready to fly, I am having some doubts if that ELT will be released in time for my inspection. Since the new ELT is retrofitable with their older 121.5 Mhz ELT, I decided it would be a good idea to find a used older ELT, and retrofit it when the new one is released.

I put out a Want-To-Buy post on the other forum for a used ACK 121.5 ELT. One person responded with an amazing offer -- I can borrow his 121.5 ELT until he is ready to fly next summer. Only thing it will cost me is the shipping both ways! And if he decides to go the 406 Mhz route, I can KEEP the 121.5! I have seen a lot of generosity and trust in this community before, but this is definitely above and beyond! This is the only community I have ever been part of where for the most part everyone works together and helps each other out. It makes me proud to be the builder/owner of such a fine product backed only by finer people.

Nifty!

Truly a good bunch. But at the risk of being thought of as heretical I don't really see it as being specific to the RV community. I don't find RV builder's to really be any more generous and giving than members of other type clubs or builder's of other models. I find that what you are describing is a general characteristic of the owner flown GA community.

But that is just one man's opinion.
