Mattituck TMX O-360

Post by captain_john »

Well, lemme tells ya... they are the BOMB!

I just got back from an engine building seminar at Mattituck (21N) on Long Island, NY and they treated us like ROYALTY! They limit the seminar to approximately 25 people.

We flew in and taxiied right up to the door. Upon arrival there was food, coffee and friendly people! This is to say nothing of the volumes of knowledge I gained about the Lycoming engine! These people had an entire O-360 spread out over 4 folding tables which, by the end of the day was a single unit!

Mahlon Russell was our host and John (sorry, I forget his last name) performed the engine assembly. It was thouroughly enlightening! All details explained and no stone left unturned.

I took several HUNDRED pictures and will post a few of them later, as I HAD to tell SOMEONE about this before going out for the evening!

Mahlon said he would check in and say hello here in the near future. He is always happy to answer any questions and does so quite thouroughly and clearly.

There will be another session coming up on March 19, 2005 and it is free! That part blows my mind! Mark your calendars! Maybe I will go again!?!

It was great!

Its not fair I tell ya. I'm just to far away from all of this. Nothing like that here 'Downunder'. Maybe I should move to the States.

Patti, Go to http://www.mattituck.com and click on the contacts page. Shoot Mahlon an email and tell him that you would like to attend the shindig! Tell 'em I sent ya! This will get me my 50% engine discount! Mahlon, remember my deal!

Come on up, Snap! My brother is selling his place. It is 1 mile from my home port, KPYM. This kills me as it takes me 25 minutes to drive to the airport from my house and he doesn't even fly!

He has a nice basement with a wood stove in it. The basement is large enough to build an entire RV and fit it out of the bulkhead. It also has a 1 car garage!

Plymouth, MA is a wonderful area to fly around... and it is hard to beat New England for autumnal views!

Mattituck TMX engine workshop

Post by mahlon_r »

Hi John, Thanks for the kind words! I am so glad you found the workshop enjoyable. I think everybody had a pretty good time and found it worth the trip to our humble abode.
If any one is interested in attending the MARCH 19TH Workshop, all you need do is email me at mahlon_russell@teledyne.com with a daytime phone number and I will take it from there.
Good Luck,
Mahlon

It was a great time!

P.S.

BTW Spike and Patti, I had to use my AOL ftp to store these. I just reinstalled Norton Internet Security and discovered that for some reason (even disabling NIS doesn't work) there is a conflict and this desktop machine doesn't allow me to post photos similar to the laptop problem I had earlier. Is there a known conflict?

Did it modify your browser to disable pop-ups?

YOU ARE THE BEST!

NIS calls it Ad Blocking!

Temporarily disabling it does the trick!

Case in point:

Thanks Patti!

Any time. Rather than whole-sale disabling it, it may have an exception list. Just add the domain name to that list.

The Mattituck guys are great. I got a chance to watch part of their XP-360 engine rebuild in the Exxon tent at Oshkosh, (couldn't stay for the whole thing I was getting married in 3 days.....priorities) ........Now if I could only get them to rebuild my IO-320 as the demo motor.....I'm sure I could volunteer it for a year......
