Monthly Hours

what kind of monthly hours are you guys putting in?

my first two months of building were:

july '05 25.5 hours
august '05 42.0 hours

so, my average is 33.75 hpm. that'll be my benchmark to work each month from here on out. at that rate, that will put me right at 5 years (59+ months) of build time, which is what i planned from the beginning. i hope to make it quicker than that, but "only time will tell"

One which I cannot answer, honestly.

I often wonder how this time is calculated. This is one reason why I don't calculate it. I suppose I could log all time spent in the garage, but I spend time in there just looking at the plans and holing parts in the air. They need airing out from time to time.

I just do things when I have time and I am certain that they go that way. I seem to be a slower builder than Dan, but isn't everyone?

If I were to venture a guess, and that is all it would be... about 25 per month would be close. Of course, that is a variable.

Lemme see, at 25 per month, and a 2,000 hour build... that comes to... (drum roll please!)...

80 months or 6.6666666 YEARS!!! Looks like I need to step things up a bit!!!

i "log" all of my time out there, except for prep and cleanup. staring at plans and holding them to the sky is part of it for me. i just don't count the time sweeping the floor or setting up the air compressor.

Well, tonight is a perfect example. I didn't PLAN on really cutting any metal... but I did. After reading my Duckworks propaganda, I got motivated. I laid the template out and pulled the Dremel out from hiding. Before I knew what I was doing, I had the abrasive wheel whizzing away at the leading edge and BOOM! The left side was cut out!

The right side will wait for a similar moment in time. I gotstah say... cool kit that Duckworks!

TT=1 hour from rumination to exaspiration.
