Chad-

Thanks for the pics! Glad you guys made it - it was a perfect day for a fly in. What I wouldn't give for a place like that.

I got to sit in the -3 for a bit ... the guy loves the way it handles so much that he said he never would have taken 25+ years to build it had he known in advance what a fun plane it was. He's getting ready to take his next -3 to the airport this fall.

The silver rocket made a low pass at well over 200mph - that thing was screaming!

All in all a great day of flying.

Chad-

Couple other questions ... I noticed you sat in the L seat of the -7 on the way back - was that you on the takeoff and low pass??

Did you have to slow down for the Mooney on the way over? I got some funny looks when I asked that and no one really answered - I figured maybe the Mooney driver had taken some ribbing from you guys already!

Jack made the takeoff. He had never taken off from the right seat. Also him in the low pass. Can't take credit for that one, though I've done several low passes in his airplane on the stick! Man, it's a BLAST!! I did get the stick right after the low pass and climb out to fly it home. Made a terrible landing, but didn't wreck it... :bang:

Slow down??? Uh...no. I was in the Mooney on the way over. Jack beat us by 15 minutes or so. It was nice being in the RV for the return flight. Even with his head start by taking off before us, and after we departed following the fly by, we passed him EASILY about 8 miles out of Wilson. We had just leveled at 6500' while he was climbing through about 5500', and we blew his doors off! Kinda neat to pass a Mooney like he was sitting still!! 8) We landed back at Jack's place about 15 minutes before them. Don't get me wrong, the Mooney is a great, fast airplane, but it's got NUTHIN' on the RV! We 'rib' John ALL THE TIME about his Mooney being slow...all in good fun, 'cuz it is a nice cruiser!

Chad, nice pics! I had my 9 year old son with me this weekend and he wasn't feeling good yesterday when we departed HFY. I think it was all the sliders he ate the day before (we don't have WC up here).

Anyway I did a quick flyby (I think it was the right field - Its not in the GPS database) and then we fly to Gary and then home to OSH.

Thomas, thanks for the offer of unloading first, but Rheed was looking kinda rough and he really wanted to just go home :(

Two good things: I logged 6.6 in the Archer this perfect weather weekend, and my wings ship today!
