Fuse arrives!

Just like Christmas or a birthday! I love opening up the boxes and seeing what all is in there.

Got the call today that the boxes had arrived at my friends business in town so I picked them up this afternoon. Since Luke is not here to help unpack them I talked Karla into helping me. She wasn't quite as excited as I was but it sure is nice to have someone helping. I inventoried a few of the large parts and she wrote them down. Here Karla is surrounded by a mound of packing paper.

Lots of parts and unlike the wings they seem to all be different. Looks like fun.

Karla is going to help me inventory everything this weekend if all goes according to plan. I will be glad to get that part done. One thing I noticed is the package containing the rivets, bolts, and hardware seemed really big. Lots and lots of pieces. It made sense that there would be a lot of hardware with the fuse but it just really surprised me how much.

That's great! I can only dream of being that far along. When I opened my first two boxes, I just couldn't stop going through everything and looking at each and every part. Having all those new parts has got to be inspirational, now if they would only come out of the box edge finished.

Jim, Karla came in a box sometime back and and has turned out pretty well. She puts up with all of my hobbies and projects and is a real trooper.

DonS, I started one year ago this month and had about 4 months that I did not work on the plane. You'll be to this point before you know it.

Chad, I went with the manual aileron trim, dual steps, dual brakes, and tip up canopy.

Andy, I still have some finsihing work to do on the wings but beofre to long they will be in the cradles. Once I get to there your welcome to use them. With the price of gas it might be cheaper to just build a set though.

Peter, organizing this stuff is a littlemore challenging than the wing parts. There is a lot more variety of parts. I'll let you know how it turns out, organiztion isnot my strongest area.

Scott, no I didn't jump in. I just packed it all up in big garbage bags and put it out with the rest of the garbage. Four big bags, they probably wonder what in the world I'm doing around here!

Well I got eveything inventoried this weekend. I show 16 hours for inventory of the fuselage. That includes sorting all the hardware and putting it in bins so it is easier to find later. There were a lot of bags!

I'll try to get some photos posted on the storage for you Peter. It doesn't seem like there was much there once it is all put away. It sure seemed like a lot of pieces while doing inventory though!

Andy, your welcome ot borrow the wing stands if you want to make a road trip. It would be nice to see you and Christina again. Karla and I would be glad to have you come and visit.

Will, you will proabbly catch me. Seems I am able to work in spurts. I have been taking on extra projects in order to help pay for the build and when working on them I don't get to work on the plane as much. I am pretty happy with how far along the project is at this point though. I inventoried the first kit on Sept 27 last year. If I had not taken 2 months off to work on the shop I would be further along. Looking at my log I guess there was about two months or so besides that I didn't get an opportunity to work on the plane at all also. I am showing 450 hours as of tonight.

I told Peter I would post a phot oof the fuselage parts once organized. Well here it is. When I look at it I kind of wonder where everythign went. Doesn;t look like much once it is all put away on the shelves and into the bins.

You can't see the skins obviously but the rest of the hard parts are all in the area of the photo. (Along with a few wing parts like the tips on the top shelf.) The big skins are on top of my paint booth until I need them. I put each bundle into its own plastic tub so I could find the parts easier in the future. (I hope)

...just so I understand, you took all the misc. hardware out of the bags and individually organized those in their own drawer correct? I like that idea because I found myself digging through the Van's bags half full of emp hardwear trying to remember what I used and what I didn't.

...hard to imagine that will all turn in to a 7A fuselage in a few weeks!

Peter, yes I took all the hardware and organized it in parts drawers from Menards. I labled each bin with the contents and put them in order so they are easy to find. I did not do this on the empenage but did on the wing and it seemed easier to find things this way. I also use the bag packlist to find items in the tubs as each bundle has its own little tub.

CJ, it is hard to believe how little space it takes. Kind of makes you wonder where all the money went! I'm sure as I get started on the fuse that I will realize there are plenty of parts there.
