I can't get PM's to work, and I can't put up a new avatar...What's goin' on?

I got your message Scott, but I can't send anything in PM's. I get a 'General error", something about mail message failed :PHP:

I have four messages in my Outbox from today that aren't going anywhere.

I also lost my avatar, and can't upload a new one.

I don't know what the script error is about, but I am able to send PMs to myself. I've also sent email off of the box in the last three minutes, and just now received my daily logwatch email.

The logs show that we got hit (by spammers trying to relay email) particularly hard last night, so it's possible that Qmail choked in the process. Things *should* be back to normal in a little while once Qmail has a time to empty its queues out.

I'll be keeping an eye on the situation during the day, "just in case".

We are still having the php error after you make a post, were working on it. All of the board functions should be working though.

Is it just me, or is nobody posting to anything but this area.
I don't see anything else hightlighted with new posts other than Site Support.

I just posted something in "Classifieds", let me know if it shows up highlighted when you log in.

Part of the problem is that with the email going kaput, no one was getting reply notifications, so I imagine no one was coming back to post.

As it turns out, it was a permissions problem. The "control panel" that our host uses seems to have a nasty habit of periodically messing with the file permissions of our mail server. This is the second time it's happened. Additionally, the web server came to a screeching halt for whatever reason and had to be restarted yesterday morning.

We're gonna start instituting periodic reboots and file permission checks in order to try to stay on top of this stuff.
