A New Helper

Post by papakeith »

I went and got myself a new helper this weekend. He's an akita doberman mix. As of this morning his name is Zach. We'll have to see if it sticks.

I'd be remiss if I didn't include a picture of his new big brother too:

Ben is a rottie/lab/shepherd/etc mix. At his prime he was ~100 lbs. We fully expect Zach to hit 120. :o

Great looking dogs PK! How did you come across the little guy? Is big brother new to you to, or is he the reigning king of the household?

Oh Ben is the king, make no mistake about that. We've had him since he was six weeks old. He turned 10 this summer. He's raised three cats in that time. This time we figured he'd like someone who would romp back when he pounced and not just run for the nearest tree.

One of my coworkers had a litter and was looking for homes. She's going to sell off a few of them;both parents are registered. But, she said she was giving them away to anyone she knew that wanted one first.

I think Zach has the makings to be a great dog. We've had him since Saturday, and he has yet to make a mess inside the house. When he's tired he heads straight for his crate and lays down. His first night with us he slept through the night without making a sound. Yup, he's a keeper :)
