Saturday I had the pleasure of flying Tony Castellano's RV-6 with CS prop and FI. I flew it for about .7 and was it nice! Bill H., his wife Beth and Rich M. joined in the fun. For whatever reason, Bill H. and I noticed that Tony's plane handled exceptionally well at low speeds for an RV! I wonder why it is that some of the RV's I have flown feel mushy in the pattern? Tony's didn't feel that way.
Today... I happened to be standing next to the Citabria, looking up at the sky with my face into an almost calm wind and virtually CAVU vis. I would have to be a FOOL not to fly!
Sooooo, I made a few phone calls and ended up at the local airpark talking about RV's! A fun day no doubt! Mitch (RV-4) and Jack (RV-7A) live at the airpark. We talked about all things airplane and then returned to Plymouth.
Coming home, the Citabria cruised quite nicely at 65 knots groundspeed heading up the Hog Island Channel towards the Cape Cod Canal at 1,000 feet. It was a great day for just sight seeing.
In comparison, the Citabria handles like a DUMP TRUCK compared to the -6! The controls were so heavy, I thought that my co-pilot Nathan was holding them back!!!
The RV's just handle SOOOO much better than almost any spammer, it is ridiculous!
Also, it is remarkable that in the last 2 years since I have begun building that people are beginning to recognize the RV! Not long ago it was a "Hey, what kinda plane was that" type of thing!
John R., This gives you time to move ahead!
