I looked thru the archives, can't find any pics.
I have the SafeAir mount, am planning on the location in the instructions. I did like most of you guys, enlarged the tooling holes in the ribs for the AOA and pitot lines. With their location, the straightest line to the pitot is in front of the aileron bellcrank (between it and the spar), but I'm not too excited about running a line thru there (obstruction, rubbing, etc.) How did you guys route these lines?
I guess the other option is mounting the mast in the next bay inboard - has anyone done this?
Also, are the AOA systems proprietary? Can the dynon AOA pitot be used with the AOA display in the AFS system? (I think the answer is no, but I'm hoping otherwise!)

Thomas, the Dynon and AFS systems are quite different in the way they sense their pressures, thereby making them "proprietary" in design.
I too, used the SafeAir Mast and really like the rugged simplicity of it's design. I went with the AFS system in lieu of Dynon because I wanted a heated pitot and their system will allow the use of a standard pitot. Yes, I know that dydnon is resurrecting their heated pitot story. I have heard it too many times. The Dynon is great for the money, though.
You do want to keep the pitot away from the fuse to eliminate any propwash from affecting the data. Therefore, outside of the bellcrank is advisable.
I used the flexible line kit from SafeAir and ran it, along with the 2 pressure lines from my AFS AOA ports along the spar and ABOVE the bellcrank and towards the root. I chose to secure the lines in place with gobs of ProSeal. This black stuff keep rearing it's ugly head during the entire project. It is an excellent adhesive for items like this.
Hope this helps!

Any pics?
The way my tooling holes are, that would mean a curve up above the bellcrank to the gob of proseal and then back down to the next hole / bushing. Not unreasonable, but I'm just wondering how it looks in practice.
It really looks like there is plenty of room behind the bellcrank, even with full range of motion ... I'm not too excited about the idea, but maybe a gob of proseal back there to hold it in place...
Thanks for the input...

Thomas, you got it right in your mind's eye. I don't feel well enough to go out there and take some pics, but you know what I mean. Actually, I think I have 3 gobs there. One on top and another on each side. I held it in place with bucking bars as the ProSeal cured.
