How much did vans charge you to ship your emp kit?

Post by tmbg »

I just checked my bank statement, and there's a charge on there from Van's for $132. Could it possibly have cost $132 to ship 50 pounds fedex ground?

That sounds to be about right in today's money. I think I paid something like $90 almost two years ago (I can check my invoice later tonight to get the exact amount). It's a combination of weight and box size/shape for the charge.

Does that sound about right to everybody?

I paid under $200 last year (2 day air shipment), I found out from Van's it was only about $10 cheaper via ground in total, and a whole lot slower. I didn't have to deal with brokerage fees with the FedEx air either, they include it. Shipping charges will add up, just part of the project cost, it was $390 to get my wing kit. The shipping costs for those that are outside North America can get really high.

East coast ouch

Post by aparchment »

Shipping fees to the east coast are extremely high. I live about as far from Van's as it gets in the U.S., except perhaps for people in Florida.

blah, I should have just had them ship it 2 day, but nowhere did anyone ask me what sort of shipping I wanted!

Hmmmm, my SB -7 finish kit cost $600 to get to Massachuetts last month!

I wonder how they arrive at these costs?
