I see they are making use of the sensenich composite prop. What is the total package cost of the Egg?

Depends on what you consider part of the package. They have a ground adjustable prop option to get started, which can be converted to CS later.
Basic E6 FWF with the GA prop is $28,490 (which will get you 160hp). With the CS prop it jumps to $33,990 (which is 200hp). They are offering a new turbo version that is out of my price range. It's $29,995 without a prop.
Now, there are a few other items that are extra, but are available thru Eggenfellner that are setup for the engine such as the GRT EIS and Andair fuel valve, $1495 and $455 respectively.
They also have had an SJ cowl designed for this engine that comes plumbed for the rads. It is higher than the Van's cowl, but the intake plenum work is done for you (THAT'S worth it for me! No fiberglass work!). It's $1295, and you get about $800 credit off your finish kit from Van's.
They won't save any money up front, but are very closely priced with traditional engines. The savings starts when it's time to overhaul...This will start some debate I'm sure...

Hmmm, dont think you will get one from me. Right now I would want an XP320, roller cam, with a Whirlwind 151 prop. Doesnt seem to me like the pricing between them is too far apart. Its more of a question concerning wanting an apple or an orange.

I really like that engine but I find myself gritting my teeth every time I look at pricing! I keep telling myself that if I go with the Subaru, and anything happens to AvGas, I'm still set. Cheaper to overhaul, but that's a LONG way away for me. I need to do some side by side cost comparisons.

I've spent a year doing side by side cost analysis. It's too close to call. You'll spend $30-35k on either, depending mainly on prop choice...unless you put a used motor on it.
The engines themselves will all prove to be in the $25k-35k (including IO-390 and angle valve IO-360) when all things FWF are considered (sans prop). One interesting way to look at the converions, Eggenfellner specifically, is that while the engine package costs $25k plus options, you are spending that money on a lot more than an engine. The engine itself is no more than 20-25% of the total. Now of course the engine won't work without the other stuff such as redrive, rads, electronics and such, but a long time down the road when the engine needs overhauled, just take the block out and spend $5,000 on a NEW one, and put it back together.
Let me know what you find. I'd be happy to send you my spreadsheet thru email so you can modify it as needed.

To make MY comparison as close to equal as possibe, I always include electronic ignition in the air cooled engines because you get that with the Subaru. I also usually compare composite prop to composite prop in three blade form.
Just some other things to think about...but basic and dirty, you're on the right track. The Lyc is about a grand higher, and the Superior is a grand lower, but without some options added to either (there are options for the Sube as well though...)
