master cyl position

Post by glenn »

Has anyone mounted the brake master cylinders upside down to what the plans call out? I'm a mechanic at a local airport and I work with some people that have been in avaition a lifetime. It was suggested to me to mount them inverted to minimize the hose travel. Haven't called vans yet, just wanted to see what was out there.

I'm not sure how they are mounted in an RV-7...YET :) But on my RV-4 they were mounted with the cylinders toward the top of the rudder pedals. This keeps the hoses and the bulk of the cylinders away from your feet. Would also seem to minimize hose travel too.
