Well, it's not as if us west coast types don't know what weather is... after all, we've seen weather on TV!
Seriously though there are airports in southern California that are under water right now. It's pretty good here most of the time but when the weather does turn bad it gets BAD!
Spike, when my plane is done, I plan on seeeing that kind of vis and those mountains firsthand! I am building my ship with intentions of touring the country during my summer vacations. Teaching is a challenging job!

Arctic circle is very achievable, short flight from Fairbanks to Barrow. One thing we have that's different is a day VFR route across the Bering Strait from Nome, AK to Provideniya, Russia. The route opened last year. No fuel in Russia so you have to be able to make the round trip 500+ with reserves. Takes about 30 days to get the necessary paperwork/permission....something new to consider..........Larry

Anytime anyone is up this way stop buy. The flight through Canada is beautiful, and working with the Canadians has been a pleasure for me, nothing but good experiences. Bring lots of 'time' though, the weather can be fickle.
