Last year, RVs made up 36 percent of the homebuilts in attendance.
Some day we'll rule the world!
Fly my pretties, fly!
Sorry, we now return you to sanity.
You guys are building the right plane

Amen to that Svanarts. When I was in the first stages of deciding which of the many worthy kitplanes I'd like to build, I seriously considered about a half-dozen. I've always enjoyed having something a little different from the next guy, so at first I didn't consider an RV, thinking they were too conventional. Then I realized I was going to be thousands of feet up in something I riveted/screwed/glued together myselfsvanarts wrote:Found this on the EAA Airventure website:

nightflyer,
That is kinda like my story.
I considered other formidable designs like the Wing and a Prayer, XYZ Flier and the so unique, it'll never get done. I wanted something different than the rest of the flock. After thinking it over, I concluded that the rest of the flock drives SPAM cans like Pipers and Cessnas. The RV ISN'T like the rest. So I bought into it!
So glad I did! The cameraderie is TREMENDOUS!

Captain,
I could not agree more. Whenever I fly into an airport and get out of the plane for breakfast, lunch, or dinner (the main reason we fly) a group of people will almost always walk over and give the plane the once over. You don't see that happen to the pipers, cessnas, moonies, ......
There is something about knowing you built the plane people are so interested in. The RV may be based on the triditional designs, but it is not you everyday run of the mill airplane.
For the money vs. performance, it's one of the best if not the best out there. 4000+ builders can not be wrong!
