I want to dimple the skins to accept the machine screw and nest them into my lower longs near the tank attach brackets.

I see that others are countersinking the skins, but I would prefer dimpling them.

Looking at the picture, I think the #8 dimple die set would work just fine.
Not sure if you will need a #10 ? Before you have someone send you one, stop by the house and bring the screw with you. We can tryout the largest dimple die set I have on a scrap pieces and see.

I now have a dimple set to use. Machine Man had one and swung by Hangar #5 today before we went flying. You know, everyday's an airshow at Hangar #5!

WS, I tried using a #8 on it but, no joy.

This is DEFINITELY the better way to make this joint.

It's a well know fact that PIE has ZERO resistance for Mr. Thevenin or Scott. In fact it's a super conductor. It adds more weight to a given body than the PIE actually weighs.

Also, electron flow doesn't work in this model. You must use holes. I'm sure you can continue the discussion on PIE holes.

well, judging by my observation of the flow from PIE to pie holes, I'd have to say that, looking back through the pie, the output impedance of pie must be pretty well matched to the network impediance of the pie hole, because transfer is pretty efficient.

Also, I believe it's been proven that the body is a very effective matching network for transforming pie to thigh space (377 ohms). I have yet to calculate the resonant frequency (in forks per second), which would represent minimal Standing Mouth Ratio.
