back in the hospital :(

Post by tmbg »

well, I done got gangrene :(

The wounds on my side were looking good, seemed like they were healing well, then one day they EXPLODED with fluid and became gross hanging green loose nastiness. I went to the ER and had emergency surgery yesterday morning.

Apparently the fatty layer between my chestwall and skin all died in the accident, and it turned into a giant abcess. They removed the dead skin and a lot of the dead tissue yesterday, and now I have a wound vac installed. I have more surgery scheduled sunday, and likely will be in the hospital 3 weeks or so. :(

Get well soon.

Boy Ian, sorry to hear about your turn of bad luck. At least they are using a wound vacume instead of leaches or magots! :o

That wound looks nasty now, but give it time, and do what the MD's tell ya.

Get well soon.

Ian, very sorry to hear about your bang-up. Hoping you heal fast and completely, with minimal discomfort. Hang in there man.

I had my surgery... at first they were saying that everything looked like it was healing great, and that they'd be able to do a final surgery the end of this week to close me up.

However, now apparently I've contracted MRSA, and with the amount of bacterial infection in the wound growing instead of shrinking, they're likely to reinstall the wound vac in the next surgery, which means I'm here another week.

And now, I'm having chest pains and trouble breathing... I may be getting pneumonia.

Hooray! The hospital is giving me more diseases than they're curing! :(

Ian,

Sounds tough and having spent almost a month in hospital this spring myself I know how not fun it is.

Hurry up and get out of there but most importantly get well.

I survived another surgery this morning....

they put the wound vac in. Hopefully they'll start moving toward closing the hole up next week. Hopefully. I'm terribly sick of being here :(
