What I did in the last 32 hours...

Post by bullojm1 »

The last 32 hours have been quite busy for me. Here is a summary of what happened:

- Drove 1200+ miles.
- Rode a Mechanical Bull at a country bar outside of Detroit.
- visited Flint, MI (where I went to college) to remember why I left.
- visited Frostburg State College in Western MD to go to a frat party.
- Assisted by the Michigan state police to help secure cargo (apparantly, duct tape isn't rated for 90 MPH!).
- Picked up a new Superior IO-360!

Awesome road trip and now I have a brand-spankin'-new engine!

And to have the cops help you secure it, well that's just service.

Well, on the door it says "To SERVE and protect"!

Take them up on that service part whenever possible!

Nice job, Mike!

You should be done with that kit in about 10 more minutes and today is supposed to be nice. Come on up here when you get it bolted in!

You guys wanted some pics of the engine, so here they are:

Engine when I cracked open the box - still in the original wrapping.

Nice! Skytech lightweight starter!

I don't know why they bother to put on a crappy oil filter. This will get changed out before I fire this bad boy up.

This is a nice touch - the dipstick tube is metal. I have never seen that before.
Image

The dipstick is also pre-calibrated.

All of the dehydrator plugs are a healthy purple. I think they turn pink when they become saturated.

The bottom plug holes are sealed.

Thanks for all the pictures Mike, it looks great. Watch out for pre-calibrated dipsticks, with a lot of engines it will make a difference depending on the model of aircraft and if you have a tail or nose dragger (unless they knew exactly what model you are building and went from that). You are entering a new phase of building for sure.

I was worried about that too, but I was lucky because a bunch of alums came up who were much older than I am. Although even if they didn't show, I can still keep up with the best drinkers!!
