ICOM A-210 RADIO GROUP BUY is out!
327
I think I might have a source for affordable 327's - The quote I got was $1,000 for an As Removed (AR) unit, and $1,200 for a yellow tagged unit. I am talking to the guy now to see if I can't put together something for us. Neither of them come with a harness, so you would have to go to Stark or Stein for that part.

Stark is the first one I would try.
If I were dealing with Stein, I would deal DIRECTLY with Paul Story, his "right hand" man. Get it?
Paul is superb, is an RV builder and has purchased from the group buys in the past.
Either way you can't go wrong.

New ship date for backorders
FYI-
I ordered some stuff from ACS last night and noticed the backordered ICOM-A210's are not as backordered now. About a week ago, they were expecting 11/15/07. Here's what it says now:
Due at WEST on or about 10/30/07.
Due at EAST on or about 11/03/07.

Well, I got my seatbelts on the Hooker Harness buy and I am getting my A-210 on that buy and I will be needing a Garmin 327 transponder before the end of the year so I am in on the transponder buy if it comes to be.captain_john wrote:Well, I do have some preliminary numbers that come in right in the middle of what you are talking about, Mike!
If I could put that together, would you be interested?
Anyone else?

I got my A210 last night as well. The first thing I notices with the unit was it sounded like there was a loose screw on the inside. Not wanting to smoke the unit the first time I plugged it in, I unscrewed the top access panel to take a peek. What the noise ended up being is a washer in the locking mechanism that secures the unit to the tray. I assume this noise will go away once the lock is engages, and the screw is pushed against the lose washer.
It does look like a sweet unit! Thanks for the work CJ! Can't wait to see whats next..... (but my wallet CAN wait).

Mine has the same rattle. Glad you took it apart to find it! Now I don't have too!
The only thing (and it's MINOR) that I wish it came with is a dust cover for once it's installed in the panel...The Garmin's and King's have this plastic cover that keeps the face from being scratched or getting dusty while it sits in the garage for the next ten years...

Got my A-210 today. Took my laptop to the hangar today so I could keep up with The UPS tracking page. As soon as it poped up as delivered I ran by the house to pick it up. Like others have said, sweeeeeet. Thanks Capt'n

Mine showed up Friday too!
I was at the hangar today working on the 4's condition inspection. The past few months we have been having issues with the comm radio getting scratchy and very poor range. So we removed the antenna (belly) and cleaned up the ground contact area, then replaced the old Coax cable with a new RG-400 line. Afterwards, we turned it on inside the hangar (with the hangar door shut) and called up the tower. They reported loud and clear
which is great
cause before they would complain it was scratchy and sometimes unreadable when we were outside ready for take-off.
I've been toying with the idea of sliding out the existing I-COMM A-200 and slippping in the new A-210 just to try it out, but I didn't bring it with me today. I just might slip it in for a test drive though once we are back up and flying, but first I want to see how the 200 works now that I think we have a good ground connection and new RG-400 cable re-run.

A210 upgraded to priority frequency watch
Just got my A210 back from Icom. They upgraded it free of charge to the new priority based dual frequency watch. Even paid the return postage. Haven't tried it out yet but should have the panel powered up in a couple of weeks. Busy spraying House of Kolor Kandies and pearls at the moment.

Priority based dual frequency watch, huh?
Sooo, not having used it yet I expect that it would allow the audio from the priority channel to override the standby one?
Looks like I need to send mine back too.
WS, wanna send them back in the same box?
