i have a hard time believing the whole thing, INCLUDING the starting trailer, cost only $9300. but that point aside.. wouldn't wood (interesting sounding) construction be WAY too heavy for a 5th wheel. it would never collapse, but hey, with petrol prices as high as they are, that tow vehicle is gonna be quite the guzzler.
all that aside, i do LOVE the idea of building something yourself, the way YOU want it! and 7 months is always impressive!

Aaron,
The wood construction is standard in the RV buiding industry.
If you have ever seen an accident involving one of those vehicles, it is splinters everywhere!
I bet his may be heavier than a typical one made at a factory because, like our airplanes I am sure he made it beefier than the standard ones.
As far as the cost, hmmmm it does sound low. I am willing to bet that if he is in the trades, many of the materials might have been "found" along the way from various jobsites!

Yes, we are clever aren't we? *snicker*
I would love to know what the markup on those things are. I do suspect there is some, er, wiggle room in that $9600 number though. Maybe thats without the interior?
