BARF Squadron - Boston Area RV Flight Squadron

Post by captain_john »

Hey all, Lemme kick this one off.

See Jack Rosen's thread at the other forum:

http://www.vansairforce.com/community/s ... hp?t=25587

He is breaking the ice with a visit to his hangar in New Bedford! No food or drinks... just RV talk! How bad could it be?!?

BTW, Thermos owns the BARF name. It is all his idea and I need to give credit where credit is due.

I think it is an excellent tongue-in-cheek reference to the overblown egos that are all too often associated with the flying RV community and other groups like warbird pilots and the like.

Who's coming?

Maybe PapaK and I can start the Bearhawkers United Together To Unerringly Go Land Yonder group. That'll make a nice shirt.

Sounds like a perfect reason to get the BARvF website up and running! Let me see what I can do...

Rich,

That's cool!

Maybe we will slide you in for the March meeting?

Spike, I was talking to Thermos tonight. We were hoping you could set up a BARF Forum that we could link to from our website. The plan is for the BARF website to be informational and an easy place for people to bookmark. This way they could return often and see what is new.

Also we would link from the BARF site to the Rivetbangers/BARF forum and back again so there would be a means of communication for BARF participants.

Can you do this for us?

Ive been rolling this around in my head for a bit now and I dont think I want to create geography based or sub-grouped forumsn. One of my complaints with other sites and one of the reasons I started RB was to have a simpler place. Doug's site has tons of info, but you have to wade through a huge number of forums. I don't think I want to head in that direction.

One thing though that I have noticed is that we need a Flight Planning forum so that people can plan flights and get togethers. That could definately help out for those geographically local get togethers.

That is a relative question...

Flight planning... rather generic if you ask me. Sounds like a java tool app for planning flights if you ask me. Whatever... we can abuse it.
