SJ cowl and induction kit arrived!

Post by cjensen »

My long awaited SJ carby cowl and induction kit arrived last night! I bought this from 7A builder Leon Cox from North Carolina, and he stopped by last night on his way to Oshkosh to deliver it to me.

He had already cut the slot for the nose wheel, so I have to glass over that. He installed the hinge pins, so all of the fitting has already been done...it SHOULD fit my airframe, but we'll see later on.

Why did he sell it? Well, he had an interference issue with the alternator, and didn't want to put a blister on the outside. I don't have a problem with that, so I bought it...for HALF the price of a new one!

He also gave me the induction kit, but he couldn't find the instructions. So, I have no idea what to do with any of this, but I suppose I can find a set from someone, or get them from James.

Lookin' good Chad! I have been fighting with my SJ cowl for the past few weeks. So far I have found it to be the most frustrating part of the build! I have the short cowl, which uses the standard Van's induction, so I can't help you with your lack of documentation. I am sure Liz at James Aircraft can get you a copy of the instructions. Hell, they might even have a copy with them at the show!
