I made 15 grand today! Somewhere in the 30 rivets set here...

I don't need the recess with the longer mount, so the SS plate was "customized" a bit...

chad as good as your project is going you should start practicing your painting skills now. i can tell you are gonna be somewhat discerning about your finish

hey, wheres my bike?

on the painting side i would get a hood from some where. maybe find a redneck buddy with a 4x4 and talk him into getting a cowl induction hood,then ofer to paint it for him... other than that its good to practice on something other than flat material so you get the experience of following the contour. a hood off of an 1980 camaro is good for this.

just tonight i painted my flaps and ailerons and the trailing edges were not covered well. i hit them with the touch up gun while the paint was still very tacky and it flowed right in. i must have intentionally shot them 8 times but still they were light. go figure. you must keep the gun perpindicular to the surface or the paint just cruises on by.

The way I practiced was to make sure my signature was legible for when I signed the check for the painter.

I highly respect you guys that paint your projects yourself. If you want runs, sags, over-spray, fish-eye, orange-peel, dust, bugs, thin spots, then I am your man.

So when do you want me to come down there and help you Chad??

I hear ya loud and clear. And i respect your choice.
but this is the one thing that i like to do even though i pretty much suck at it. but man im hard headed.

id rather get better painting cars but im am ready to fly. in all honesty, dont want to subdue anyones good intentions, but if all your gonna paint is your plane, get someone else to do it. ive seen some ugly planes at fly ins and they typically are the ones painted at home. but then ive never seen randy's plane or mark's plane. both of which look reeeealy good on the web. good bad or inbetween im going on with it. if it turns out that bad they make stripper too.
