I never went to the back of the line. Craig did tell me a couple times that if I REALLY needed it at any point beyond six months (that was the initial lead time), he would put me right up front. I always told him that I needed it by June, and that's what I got...though I did have to push a little towards the end to get it when I did. I think if I hadn't called or emailed to check on it once a week in May, that I wouldn't have gotten it until July or later...
This is the key piece I've been waiting for, and the reason I started polishing the wings...I want the prop hanging to start the cowl work. Another week or two of wing polishing, and it's on to the cowl! Not really looking forward to it after reading your trials with it though...
I was leaning really hard to Catto, but 11 months seems a bit stiff. Though, the 2 blade MT is calling as well. I'd love the 3 blade MT, but darn thats a bunch of dough.
Looks nice Chad!

CS. If I were thinking FP the catto is the only way I'd go currently. As for why MT vs Whirlwind, its primarily a comfort factor with respect to the company. Its anecdotal but I think I have read of more issues with WW than MT, especially from a few years ago with people having to replace blades, etc, on the WW.

Ah...I think the WW blade issue is resolved now...Mike?
Servicing MT's is the problem I see. They take forever, and it's expensive on both ends with them. They are GREAT props...just $$$...
Nice prop Chad. Hmm, red along with polished aluminum, what does that remind me of ... there is a place a few blocks away that builds these custom things with loud sirens in them and big water pumps, oh wait, you saw the light and got rid of the water pump . People will be getting out of the way when you go by in that thing, and I'm sure they will be crowding around for a close look when it's stopped. Hmmm, what name to give to your plane, red, aluminum, gets you there fast ... .
Hey Chad nice prop.... I'm wondering, is there any issues with doing acro with the Cattco?
As I am trying to figure out my "must haves" vs "nice to have" The prop is one area I keep coming back to. I love the look of the Cattco three blades, and I really like the prive vs a CS.
Catto does not restrict the prop. It does require an extension; either 2.5 or 4" depending on your cowl and engine. This is an "issue" for some people, but not for others.
I have asked my DAR about this, not wanting any surprises come inspection time and he said "no problem". BTW, he has been flying a -6 for a very long time, with a Catto prop for the last few years and loves it!
