Spike, I'd say you have your priorities in exactly the right order. But it's easy to see this as an either/or proposition - and it isn't, or at least it doesn't have to be. I have the same problem, I'd really like to be done and have something to fly but life always seems to get in the way of all the plans we make.
In the end, we set priorities - family first, project second - and I work hard to not get down when it seems like the airplane will never get finished, or when I wonder how we'll pay for an engine and prop when we have a daughter starting college in two years, or when my wife's car craps itself.
I'm sure you'll find a way to make it work.
I never post this much...it must be the cold medicine I'm taking.
