Nope, the EI people (maker of the red cube) say that this is leftover from when they used the Flowscan transducer....
Per this post:

You can do whatever with the red cube.....
It is a give and take kind of deal...I doubt there has ever been or ever will be an install of one of these things that meet all the recomendations 100%.
The big thing for me was that I wanted to push instead of suck thru this thing and I wanted flex hose in and out.

Spinner is now complete. Ready to move on....
It really looks like an airplane with that prop and spinner on there!
I was really sweating the spinner cuz I did not want a wobbler and I figured I would screw up the cutouts or it would be really hard to make the gap fillers.
Turns out it is time consuming but after it is done, not that bad.
I decided to countersink my screws and use countersunk washers and I also made my gap fillers out of .063 sheet.
The only real issue I have had is that the front plate was no where close to the inside of the spinner so I had to reduce the spinner ID with several layers of glass.
Lets see.....Whats next on the list?
If I had my D120 to slide into its home and connect to the already completed harnesses, I could start this thing!
I think I will focus on finishing the wiring by pulling my harnesses thru the wings and start to terminate the lights.

I know....All I had last night is the cell phone and I don't have a fancy Iphone like Chad to take pics with...
Since our family only has one good digital camera, I must remember to bring it with me to the hangar...

Status Brantel: First Engine Start Completed!
First start completed 11/15/09....No issues to report!
Was kinda uneventfull....Except that the bystanders were trying to fool me by dumping a cup of oil out under the engine after the first run.... They almost had me going but I was very skeptical cuz I know this bunch around here!
Here is the link to the video:

This was an edit and cut together of a few different short runs. I think I need to do the alternative wiring on that Flyweight starter since it sounds like it is staying engaged too long after I let off the switch.

Congrats Brian! I can't wait for the day I don't have to make airplane noises!
