I like VAF most of the time, but other times I wish I knew the secret handshake.

Sadly I have had some of the same issues... I think most of the problems come from one mod in particular.

For some reason he kept deleting my new Son's birth announcement. Even though it was posted in the section where this was specifically allowed..

Oh well..

My third (and final) son Avery was born last Friday!!

Brantel, I love it!

Yah, that "place" is like that. I have more stories than Mother Goose, but I will bite my tongue for now.

Your posts are always informative and interesting. You make excellent progress and are a valued member of our online communities!

Don't be dismayed. Many of us feel the way you do!

...and Matt, Congrats!!! You are certainly proud and want to tell the world about your happiness! Sorry that you were shut down over there.

Yeah, to get birth announcement to stick over there it has to have the subject line "Here's another story about the space shuttle"

True story.. I ordered my tail kit from Van's the afternoon of March 5th 2009. Later that evening at dinner as I was rambling on about my new order, my wife looked at me and said "Matt, I'm pregnant... and yes you can still build your plane."

So I present Avery (No I didn't name him after my tool kit.)

He is my third (and last) son.

p.s. Yes I know he has more hair that me.. At least it's the same color!

I removed my sig tag...

As usuall someone rubbed me the wrong way and I over reacted.

I truly like Doug 110% and VAF 99.9% of the time! Doug is always fair and consistent. Some of the others not so much.

Oh well, it is Doug's sandbox and he can do as he pleases.

Spike, please delete this thread when you get a chance...

I'm probably gonna regret posting this, but here goes...

Why don't you guys send Doug an email when you have these problems? He grants the Moderator status, he can surely take it away if enough people raise the concern about one mod or another. I know he would be open to your input. And I know he is aware of a few who rub his "customers" the wrong way. Bringing it further to his attention may provide him some impetus to act.

Bitching and complaining about it on another board just makes people look petty.

My $.02. Flame away, I'm not going to argue or rebut.

Joe,

I have communicated with Doug directly.

He ignores things that he doesn't want to deal with.

Yah, we are all busy.

I am too busy to post over there anymore (unless it helps out a builder or builders directly).

Sure, I check in about once a week to see what is going on but other than that... I couldn't be bothered.

I know that you like him. I find his arrogance unbecoming.

Sure, I got the stories to go with these opinions and I know that I have bored you with them over a beer at OSH. I won't do that here.

Sorry if I have offended anyone here. I just calls them as I sees them.

Joe: As you know, I've made a number of attempts to try to get moderator's to adopt a fairly uniform set of principles. I even suggested a closed area of VAF to discuss these sorts of things. It never happened.

I don't have a problem with moderation. I make my living online and I know how stupidly things can deteriorate without it.

I just want to see a more consistent application.

I recall Chad a few years ago posting something regarding a Bearcast design. It was removed because it wasn't SPECIFICALLY about RVs. Fair enough. But anyone who spends time on VAF -- and we all do and with good reason -- knows that the thing is littered with off-topic material -- some of which is interesting, some of which is garbage.

Doug's only one guy and it's not really his fault. It's the fault of moderators who don't understand the problem and see the need for having a consistent set of guidelines to apply.

But deleting a post announcing a guy's new baby. You can't say that part of the role of your site is for social networking, and then delete a post announcing a guy's new baby.

You want petty? That's petty.

Was just browsing some old posts on the blog and was reminded that this video (or a link to it) got removed from VAF, too. It apparently upset the formation flying crowd.. again, not RV specific, but we've certainly seen bigger tangents.

Was a funny video, tho.

Glad you guys liked the video in question. Good to know I have an outlet for my warped sense of humor.

This one is sort of RV related. Just wondering if this could be adapted to RV's for anti-theft
