I just opened the gear legs (still in the Vans bubble wrap) I received a few months back [from another builder who went with Groves], laid them out and notice a slight variation in the two. See images (shot with wide angle so a bit distorted on the side view):
Is this normal? Can/should I take them to a body shop to get them matched (bent)?
Was talking to my friend Smokey Ray and mentioned there was also a bow in the leg and the light came on [] as I explained to him the deformity. I then went out to the garage/shop and laid a straight edge on the deformed leg and the bow is such that taking out the bow should just about fix the mis-alignment on each end. Should be easy enough to get tweaked with a friends [heavy duty] hydraulic press.
Here is a follow up to this situation. Contacted Harmon Lange who agreed to tweak them. I sent them to him and he returned them back to normal.
So the legs are now on the plane and and it is dead-on level to a Nats hair.
Someone asked where I got second hand legs. These really aren't second hand as such (never been on a flying plane) but were on a man's project who decided to go with Groves. He pulled them off, put on the Groves and sold me the legs.
