Chicago, wow. I had forgotten about them. Kind of funny how EAA always talks about how we need to bring new people and new blood into aviation and then books all of the geezer bands to play at Airventure. Seems like an oxymoron to me

I agree... BUT...it's better than booking the likes of Miley, Jonas Bros, etc...

I'll be there as well, 'cause I too liked Chicago in their glory days. We used to play "Beginnings" and "25 or 6 to 4" in the high school band because we wanted to be cool rock-and-roll horn band guys.
Hopefully there are some original, un-facelifted members left in the band.

And that day happens when your kids catch you rockin' out to the music you grew up with, you tell them that it's real music, and they roll their eyes and say "you're so old!"

The only comfort I can take from this thread is that this will never happen!

I think EAA gets its musical lineup from the billboard at the local Indian casino -- those things always book the over-the-hill acts because the over-the-hill people are the ones with the dough.
My prediction, then, for the next few years:
2011: The Hollies
2012: Three Dog Night
2013: America
2014: Blood, Sweat, and Tears
Ya know...if they REALLY wanted to draw a crowd on opening night...bring in the heavy hitter...and have him fly in in his Albatross...Hemispheres...
JIMMY BUFFET!!!
'Course, it would take all day for the crowd to get prepared for the concert, and all night and the next day to recover...but wouldn't that be a show!!??
BUT...it's better than booking the likes of Miley, Jonas Bros, etc...
There are lots of bands between Chicago and Miley. How about Aerosmith, GNR, Metallica, etc. These might bring in the 30-40 year olds that will be the future of GA. They might be deaf, however

shoot enough rivets and there will be hearing loss anyway.
