Wings Done!!

Post by clreding »

The wings were tough in that I kept getting interrupted with life stuff, so it took longer than I expected. For some reason the wings frustrated me and then having to do everything twice …… My wife and daughter helped me carry them out of the basement on Saturday, next week Ill borrow a pickup truck and take them to the airport for storage until the fuse is done.

Now that they are in the garage and the fuse isn’t here I decided to put the wingtips on. I built a little jig to hold the aileron in neutral position which is working well. Anyone else do the wingtips before mounting the wing to the fuse? For those who did mount the tips before mounting the wings to the fuse did you run into any issues later with alignment?

Glad to hear that you have your wings done. I too await for the fuselage. And as of now I am working on the wings tips. I hope that there are no issues with doing the tips now rather than wait for the wing attach.

I am sure you will have more fun to come!!!! :)

I fitted my wing tips to the wings and riveted on the plate nuts etc., before I started working on the fuselage of my RV-6A Quickbuild. There were no problems. My plane has been fling since 5/9/2009 and I just got wing tips and wheel pants painted two weeks ago. They all went right back on with no problems. I installed wing tip lights so I had to make the modification to the wing tips to mount the combination nav, strobe and rear while light on each wing. Putting the fiber glass mounting paid was a real pain in the postier! That had nothing to do with having my wing tips mounter prior to mounting the wings to the fuselage. :bang:
