I'm so new
Hello everyone my name is Jeff Forman and I live in central Texas. I haven't taken my first flight lesson yet but I want to build one of these RV's so bad I can taste it! I would love to spend a few days helping someone who lives near me build their RV... anyone interested?
Jeff

Welcome Jeff. I would strongly encourage you to start taking flying lessons now! I know from experience that flying lessons aren't cheap and neither is building an RV
However there is a guy at the airport where I keep my airplane that got his airplane signed off last year(not and RV) and just now is almost ready to get his private pilot's license in a Warrior. However his airplane is high powered tail dragger with a Chevey 350 engine. After he gets his license he will have to get a tail dragger endorsement and try to get enough experience to fly his own airplane. My guess is that he will be lucky to be able to fly it by this time next year
Therefore I am a firm believer in getting a license first. I knew I wanted to build an RV-6 in 1991 but had to wait for the last child to graduate from college before I started lessons. I got my license in 1993 and ordered my first kit RV-6A 12/98. It got signed off on 12/18/2008. I lost my medical in 2004 and am still trying to get one

Jeff,
Welcome! Check and see if there's a local chapter of the EAA near you and go join. Go to some meetings and you'll meet some great people. That's how I got involved at first. You'll soon find out who's building what and where and you can go from there. Good luck!
Let us know how it goes, will you?
Oh, for what it's worth, I'm probably the odd man out here. I'm just finishing up my fuselage, and I don't have my PPL yet either. I'll probably start training for mine next spring or summer. Either way, you can make it happen if you want it bad enough. Do what's best for YOU and follow your dreams.

Privet all
I hope Jeff doesn't mind if I use his thread to introduce myself. I was reading The Bangers for years, then stopped when build experienced short standstill then started reading again. Good resource and a different one thank you all for keeping it alive. I know some members virtually, some met in person and I am glad to be a part of RV community. I am active on several foreign boards and spread the word about great kits Vans manufactures. My name is Vlad, hi to all.
