Today is the one year anniversary of my 8's first flight--it seems like yesterday.
I didn't make my 100 hour goal, but came close at 88.6. I have been pathetic at flying this winter, only about 3 hours since October. I guess I will have to try for 112 in the 8 this year. I never made a very long CC, longest was about 300 SM. I will have to change that this summer
Don't feel to bad. We got 82 hrs the first year but only a little over 44 last year. Weather didn't do us any favors. Weather kept us from participating in two different Young Eagle Events. Snowblower to open up the hanger broke down in mid January snow storm so haven't flown since. We we are waiting for the frost to go out before we start flying again. It should happen this week!
Is it wrong to vote 80-120? when I've only got 29 hrs on her so far. My goal is 100hrs this year....that's only $4-5K in fuel ok maybe I should shoot for 80 hrs.
Thats the spirit!! I burned up a bunch of ethanol I got from a friend who hauls it from the plants. When they clean out the tankers to haul gas or Fuel, they end up with several gallons of pure E98. I mixed it off with 100LL, and was burning fuel that cost about $1.50 per gallon
I usually buy a bunch of 100LL in the spring, and keep it in a tank at the farm strip. Then I only have to buy fuel once a year, unless I am traveling
How do we have 4 votes when only 3 of us are in on this discussion so far? Brian you better save that kidney someone in your family may need it more than you do for avgas. Maybe Lance will need it if he keeps mixing E85 with 100 LL! My O-320 160 HP can burn 100 LL and most likely 91 Unleaded but no ethanol! Hopefully we each afford enough 100 LL to meet somewhere this Summer! Keep the shing side down except for areobatics!
Don't worry about me, Bob, I am set up for ethanol. Google the vangaurd squadron out of SD. The have been running it for years. I had my fuel system set up by Airflow Performance to run anything from unleaded to straight E98.
Lance, I have watched them preform and was very interested in that possibility at one time. My used engine would have been tough to convert and therefore, I decided to stay stock. I still want to know who the 4th person is voting in the poll for number of hours for an RV.
Chad, I knew someone was hiding in the bushes! You are welcome to vote just curious who all is sitting in the bushes! You are good company and maybe some day you will get out to God's Country!
