Bending Brake

Post by krjcolo »

I am going to build a bending brake out of 2x8's how long should it be, I know the top should be a little longer than the bottom. Do you use a 10' or 12' piece.
Thanks,
Kim

No need to make it that long Kim. I made mine 5' long to accommodate the trailing edge of the elevators on my 7. Just make it long enough to bend what you are bending unless it's going to be more of a permanent tool in your shop that will have other uses.

my 2x6 constructed bending brake is only 5' long. I didn't need it any bigger for my QB.

If you are building a -9, the bending brake is only used on the trim tab, so it doesn't have to be very long at all.
