Where's Dave?

Post by Thermos »

Hello fellow RBers,

Just so we don't go another 72 hours without a post, here's a holiday update from Boston. My website is woefully out of date - free time in the shop is going to the airplane, not to hand-jamming HTML! Anyway, I had the week between Christmas and New Years off, so we got the tailcone and center section mated, and the side skins clecoed.

Here's the tailcone, longerons and center section clecoed...

...and here's the same with the side skins clecoed.

Once Ellen and I got all the fuse parts lined up and clecoed, the fit was remarkably good. I actually have a little spare length on the longerons - it's a mystery why Van's has you trim them to a gnat's ass, then shorten them once they're installed. Oh well...it's better to have them a little too long than a little too short.

I'm not the fastest builder in the world :o (there's no emoticon for sarcasm) so this is big progress for us.

Here's hoping you all have a great 2012!

Glad to see your making great progress. It sure is a fun part of the project as you see a lot go together at this point.
